He wasn’t good enough for Manchester United but could soon be on the way to join Real Madrid, writes Manchester Evening News’ Anthony Jepson.
Memphis Depay did not leave a very good impression upon fans in the North West, but has claimed a move to the Bernabeu is possible.
Depay was sold to Lyon by United in January after failing to make the grade at Old Trafford, scoring just seven goals in 53 appearances, report the Manchester Evening News.
The former PSV Eindhoven man has enjoyed a reasonable start to the season in France – but is already thinking of moving on.
“I think I’m going to Real Madrid. Yes, that’s a serious goal,” he told The PSV Supporter magazine.
“What’s happened so far, that’s God, he helps me and brings me here.
“I had very nice times at PSV, but I wanted to reach higher goals in my career. At Lyon I’m very happy. The club is in a way comparable to PSV.”
