Man City star is injured before Man United
Man City 2 – West Ham 1
David Moyes and West Ham can be proud of their efforts on Sunday.
However, in the cold light of day, the Hammers lost another Premier League game. They remain in the relegation zone with 10 points from 15 games.
West Ham took the lead against the Sky Blues just before the break. Angelo Ogbonna was the surprise hero for the Hammers with a header in the City box.
But Pep Guardiola’s men recovered after the break. Nicolas Otamendi was once again on the scoresheet to level for City.
David Silva scored the all important second for City after a brilliant assist from Kevin De Bruyne.
Eliaquim Mangala vs Man United?
In a rarity, Eliaquim Mangala was paired up with Otamendi at the heart of the City defence against West Ham.
Vincent Kompany was left on the bench as the Belgian is a booking away from a suspension.
In the final minutes of the West Ham game, Mangala almost allowed the Irons to level.
Marko Arnautovic embarrassed Mangala, and the defender instantly looked like he was injured.
Or was he just faking?
Pep Guardiola was unable to take Mangala out the game as he’d already made his three changes.
Should it prove that Mangala is injured he’ll miss the derby against Man United next weekend.
City head into the Man United game with an eight point lead at the top of the table.
West Ham injuries
West Ham also seemed to pick up injuries during the Man City game.
In the first half David Moyes had to take off Cheikhou Kouyate after he seemed to go down with a hamstring injury.
In the second half Michail Antonio exited the game with what looked like a calf problem.
