Bad news for Real Madrid before the Atletico derby
Atletico Madrid v Real Madrid
There’s no doubt that Zinedine Zidane is in the middle of his toughest time as Real Madrid’s manager since he took the job.
Prior to the international break, Real beat Las Palmas 3-0 at the Santiago Bernabeu.
But that victory followed two terrible results for the reigning La Liga and Champions League holders. They were beaten 2-1 away at minnows Girona in the Spanish top flight, before Tottenham put in a brilliant performance in a 3-1 UCL win.
Real are third in La Liga, eight points behind leaders Barcelona.
As for Atletico Madrid, Diego Simeone is also wading through a sticky patch at the club.
Hopes were high for Atleti this season as they moved into their new Wanda Metropolitano stadium. But the move seems to have coincided with a season of transition, as the Rojiblancos look well below their best.
Atletico are on the verge of being turfed out the Champions League in the group stage, while they are fourth in La Liga.
Awful news for Real Madrid & Isco
On Sunday, Real Madrid fans have learned that Isco has had to pull out the Spanish squad through injury.

As reported by Spanish media outlet AS:
Isco has been released by Spain and will not travel to Russia with the rest of the squad on Sunday afternoon after picking up a knock in La Roja’s friendly victory over Costa Rica after a heavy challenge by Kendall Watson.
Isco is now a major doubt for the Atleti game.
In sunnier news, however, Cristiano Ronaldo should be raring to go for the Madrid derby after he’s enjoyed a two week break. Ronaldo has been excused from Portugal’s get together.
Ronaldo only has one La Liga goal this season.
