After claiming his fifth Ballon d’Or award this evening, Cristiano Ronaldo has said he wants to finish his career at Real Madrid.

The award caps of a sensational year for the forward, who is now in his ninth season at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Now at the age of 32-year-old, the forward believes he is capable of remaining at the top “for a few more years”.

Cristiano Ronaldo claimed Ballon d’Or number five this evening, to be crowned the world’s best player for the second consecutive year.

The triumph means that he draws level with Lionel Messi’s record

The Real Madrid hitman finished ahead of the Argentine, in what has been a truly remarkable year from both an individual and team perspective.

49 goals, four major club trophies and the three highest individual accolades, 2017 belongs to CR7.

“I’m happy at Real”

The Portuguese captain, much to the delight of the Santiago Bernabeu faithful, has confirmed his desire to remain in the Spanish capital for the rest of his career.

Ronaldo said:

“I hope I can play at the greatest level for a few more years.

The battle continues with Messi. We’re doing the best we can for our teams.

I think things are happening for a reason. I feel good, let’s see what happens in the future.

I’m happy at Real and I want to stay and finish my career there if possible.”
